Are your boxes organic and local?
We love organic and love local and whilst we strive to focus on these things, in practice, other things come into play too. Seasonality, what we fancy, what Delia was cooking, what looks good, what the kids will eat, budget, keeping food interesting... and the list goes on.
We think to go entirely organic and/or local would make for a pretty boring box and you'd probably not stay with us for very long.
Some small or not-for-profit growers don't want or need to go through the rigmarole of being organically certified, like the allotment or Southend's Trustlink orchard.
And many countries don't have a organic certification scheme, and it would be a shame not to include tropical fruit and vegetables, as we recognise that curiosity and novelty are a great way to keep us motivated and interested in the kitchen.
So when creating your weekly box we try and take into account all of these things, in the way that we pick produce for our own kitchens.
What about holidays?
We all love holidays. Even veg-centric revolutionaries like us. Our monthly plans cover 48 weeks of the year. Which means there are four weeks off. Two weeks that we choose and two weeks that you choose. In 2020 ours will be 10th - 23rd August. You can let us know your two whenever you like. If you are lucky enough to have more holidays, then maybe consider gifting your box, donating it to the OneLove Soup kitchen, Or have a chat with us and we can sort it out, by pausing your membership or giving you extra at busy times of the year.
I don't like Kiwis. Or Celery.
Don't worry. If there are things you just can't stomach, we will gladly ensure that you never receive these. Every customer will have their food intolerances written on the side of the box, so there can be no mistakes.
But I don't know what I'll fancy on Saturday!
We would love you to be excited about what arrives in your box and for that to influence some of the things you cook. Your box will showcase some of the best of the season, and therefore some of the best quality and freshest grub available. To make the most of your box we do suggest that you may want to plan some meals around the vegetables - be veg-centric!
I've found a little white fly! Help!
We think it's quite flattering when our food is so tasty that other creatures want to eat it too.
But of course it can be a bit off putting if you're not expecting it. Although we do our best to ensure your box is completely bug free, where organic farm produce is included please give your food an extra check over. (Unless you want the extra protein)
How long am I committed for?
Receiving a weekly box can start a bit of a lifestyle change for some families, as it can be a challenge to use fresh fruit and veg. Because of this, and the variety we include in the boxes, we ask that you try us out for a minimum of four weeks to get a good flavour of what we offer. If you're not sure you want to commit to a subscription straight away, we offer four week, four box tasters.
If you sadly choose to cancel your subscription with us, we just ask that you give us a month's notice.
